So today we will talk about stretch marks, all of have faced stretch marks at some point of time. They are weird, makes your skin look uneven and more importantly make restrictions on the clothes you choose to wear.
Stretch marks occur mostly during pregnancy, other causes are excessive weight gain or weight loss, sometimes during puberty also. They can occur on any part of your body including the stomach, thighs, hips, breasts, upper arms, and lower back.
A quick note on what exactly are stretch marks and then we will move ahead to BIO OIL.
Stretch marks are scars which are caused due to excessive stretching of the skin, shrinkage of the skin also causes Stretch marks. They take years to fade, as a mark is left on your body parts.
The skin consists of three key layers. Stretch marks form in the dermis, or middle layer, when the connective tissue is stretched beyond the limits of its elasticity. This is normally due to rapid expansion or contraction of the skin. As the body grows, the connecting fibers in the dermis slowly stretch to accommodate slow growth. However, rapid growth leads to sudden stretching. This causes the dermis to tear, allowing deeper layers of skin to show through.
Now talking about the treatments, stretch marks can be treated by using various skin cream, gels, lotions balms or oils.
